sending cuts of my film to mentors and people i...
i’ve had a new cut for about 2 weeks and i’m only now just sending it to my mentors, and folks who make art that i really look up to. fear is a crazy thing!
the new cut has a better ending, i agree with most of the feedback i’ve gotten in that regard. the title, yes i like that too. but there is something still missing that i’m not quite sure how to get to. something...

tea helps me write
while i wait to get the call from my friend to come over and work on the edit of my film. i figure i should work on some of my other projects- all in the writing stage.
editing and writing, big triggers for me. i do everything possible to avoid doing both those things which are essential to get the ideas from my head out to people.
yesterday my excuse was the house is dirty, so i cleaned for 5...

click on the Jim Jones video. I worked on this as a production coordinator for almost an entire month, no weekends off and over 16 hour days…the balance of life huh. rent job, then unemployment and writing and filmmaking then time for another rent job!

an update to my Kickstarter backers
We did it. We shot the film last weekend, wrapping late Sunday Night. We condensed our 5 day shoot to a 3 day shoot, due to crew, budget restrictions, it was crazy, hectic but fun and exciting. Most everyone except our Sound person worked for free for the 3 14-16 hr days, keeping their energy positive throughout. Some of the beautiful things that happened in the production rush: - Our...

2 days left to go! started calling everyon ei know in production for help with contacting vendors for donations as i’ve been gone from new york for ages!
its busy now so lots of vendors don’t have the equipment we need! it’d help if we could shoot everything for our coffeeshop location on sunday but we can only afford to pay for having them close for 5 hours and doesn’t...

woke up 30 minutes late, i was supposed to start calling around to those places to get donated equipment….find some of my friends in production that i KNOW will have personal relationships with these vendors, and balls up and ask them for help again!
There is someone out there who can say the magic word of ‘i vouch for tchaiko’s project’ and i know that we can get this...

looking for plan b
always have a plan b when you’re filming indie style and a time when you need to give up on plan a and go to plan b.
i know this but i keep forgetting to actually implement it! so now a major part of our filmmaking donation is seeming a bit insecure, our production insurance..a.hhhhhhthis donation would allow us to get our equipment donated, rented for cheap, a free cargo van…so must...

compromise
hmmmm…i know things will work out as they should…but i’m hoping that i’m not compromising too much with my choices, and that the narrative still holds strong….in a short film, every detail really tells so much about the story, from what the character is wearing, to how the make up is done, to how the room is dressed…i really hope that what we are able to do in...
handheld vs. on sticks!!! the canon 5d not great for handheld i’m told, but… i love hand held stuff and we dont’ have the resources for dollies to get movement to create subjective field!
doing some research to see what it would be like if we did do handheld…anyone have comments, reviews…suggestions???
Arthur Jafa's words coming back to me after...
I wish I remembered what he said verbatim, but what i remember and what is coming back to me, is that films that do not have access to a lot of funds are forced to develop their own aesthetic in response to the lack…and that we don’t have to see it as a ‘lack’ so to speak but a beauty in the creative forces of people who have traditionally not had access and the great...

its true!! my friends are some of the smartest, most talented, creative people and i try as much as i can to rope them into my filmmaking endeavors, even though they dont’ work professionally in film.
marisha scott is my muse and i can always bounce ideas back and forth on her in any realm- make up choice, wardrobe choice, set dressing choice…we are on the same wavelength...
